| I always thought brains were awesome...problem being I am not all so sure I want to invest money in them due to the fact I am not sure if my crowded mushroom tank can support them. I have successfully propagated only a few hard corals such as Povonas, Monticaps, and Galaxia in my 20 gallon sump. As many of you may be aware of I run a metal halide over my tank and have masses of mushrooms tucked in each corner of my tank. I was just hoping some of you might be able to give me some pointers on keeping brains. I am quite aware of how brains are capable of sending out devastating tentacles and will obliterate anything around them. Any advice would be appreciated. | |

| There ar e few corals referred to as brains but I presume you mean platygyra and favites? You could make a ledge and put a frag under it,gradually moving it till it looks like it is satisfied with the lighting. Most of the brains can be heavy feeders and can obtain much nutrition that way too. I personaly would keep the mushrooms at bay as you never know if one of them has more potent defenses than the brain. Its a crazy coral world. | |

| Hmm I did not think about using a ledge to slowly adjust light....I suppose that would mean in the future I wold need to re arrange my tank little bit. | |
