PostSubject: DIY Favia Fragging   DIY Favia Fragging EmptyTue Aug 09, 2011 2:40 am

So here is a favia i am going to frag up for a friend and i.

i have a very limited arsenal of tools at my disposal so i had to improvise.i used a small egg crate shelf in the bottom of the tuperware as a base then i put a sizable chunk of chaedo morpha ontop to act as a cusion then i filled with tank water to an apropriate level.

i placed the favia frag upside down with the living tissue submersed as much as possible.

Then its dremel time.this one is tough as i have to keep the frag submersed and from moving to much from the cutting wheel.all while trying to avoid my fingers and polyps.

then right before coming through to the other side of the skeleton you dont want to tear the flesh so you kinda snap it but not the tissue.at this point you should let it heal itself apart naturaly as you have removed its skeletal ties but i have to get this done with so some clean coral or tissue shears to slice through the remaining poly[p flesh.

there it is in two .rinse with more tank water then proceed to dip in you favorite coral dip to prevent infection and back into the tank.

and dont forget to wear your saftey glasses when fragging any coral as things can get ugly.in the dremel picture you will notice all that dust in the middle of the pic.that is rela time particles flying right into my camera.as well as myy glasses.
