| still having trouble with some nasty beard algae and was wanting to cheat and use some algaecide of some sort.i have had some good luck with algae fix so i was leaning tward that.i am wanting some biological control but my tank mate preferances wont alow it.i think that once i get a grip on it the new plant growth will outcompete the algae. | |

| I'm not sure this is the same beard algae that you're talking about... if so, check out the pics below. So I've been cultivating the moss on this log for quite a while. Letting the moss grow along with java moss. Here's a wider image of the log. So I put a lone nerite snail in there six days ago. The bare areas are his handy work. Here's a picture of the guy. He's been working this spot for 24h. One day ago it was totally fuzzy. | |

| man that couold definatly be a picture of the month entree.nice job it looks textbook.and as fara s the snaila dn algae go i suppose i could try a couple out before i go with the chemical route.thats pretty impresive for a single snail.and that algae looks like s combo with some string algae.its good to know that they will eat that as well.i should experiment with some plants first or do you know if they wil eat my jungle valisnaria? | |

| The two nerites in my other tanks haven't touched jungle val. There's been enough algae around so I'm not sure what would happen if there were a shortage. The olives that I ordered should arrive early this week. I'll keep you posted. | |
