| so i have had to purchase more peppermint shrimp do to the never ending battle with aptasia.actualy i just keep setting up new tanks and getting new live rock from aptasia riddin souces.i finaly set up a cleaning tank for that but once again peppermints are key to this celanup.i am looking into getting some more and trying my hand at breeding them as i have athing for inverts and once i get some rotifer cultures going again i might be able to do it.it is not unheard of as they can be either sex when needed.[img] [/img] | |

| so since there has been alot of confusion in some converstions that i have been in lately as far as the better peppermints so here i have both to clear it up a little.the more aquarium friendly are the lysmata wurdemanni.a sometimes imported pacific variety is the lysmata californica wich is not as apt to eat aptaisia and does not do well in most tanks tropical temps.on the right is the wurdmanni wich has the vertical striping along the sides of its body where the californica has horizontal bars.if you dont look it is easy to grab either one without knowing.i personaly like em both but some people may unknowingly be purchasing one that may be less desirable and that is something i would like to clear up. | thanks M&M now the real confusion begins as i believe i have three of these variants.now the only pictures of californica i have seen are in some of my books but from these pics you have linked i wouldnt mind a second opinion on an ID.wasnt aware of the new described variant but it makes this all so much cooler.in a way.i am going to have to start a thread on good links and such. these are all really good reads. | |

| I was thinking the same thing. Looks like a lot happened in 2006. Looks like you have boggossi. And maybe waunderri or ankeri. It is very confusing. Knowing where they came from is the best, but that info gets lost so easily. You need to try breeding them | |
