anemones might split again??? Empty
PostSubject: anemones might split again???   anemones might split again??? EmptySun Feb 26, 2012 10:24 pm

so my red bubble tip anemone that split about a month or 2 ago appears to be splitting again- both of them. I am not totally sure about this but they are both big and open today and the one on the right seems to be showing an area without tentacles. That could be a splitting area or maybe it is where it split from the other one and is still healing? Does anyone know? I am not sure if the pictures show it well enough. Anyway, its just a gut feeling i have that they are trying to tear themselves apart again. How often do anemones usually split?

interesting.i had this happen to me once but in a shortere period of time.everything seemed good as far as salinity and perameters being in check.i pinned one thing being a variable adn it was a slight temperature flux.from 76-82 sometimes in a day.i didnt figure it had caused much damage so i let it ride.then my anemone split again.it seemed way to preamture to be splitting as it had yet to atain the size it was originaly.i fixed the temperature flux and it stopped splitting.not that this is what caused it but it may be somthing to look into.

thanks for the tips there... the temp should be steady but i will keep an eye on it. However, the aquarium is small and it does lose water to evaporation FAST. It loses about 3/4 gallon a day amazingly. Thats about as much as my 46 loses. So that could be an issue. However, the new anemone grew to the size of the original one in the past month or so since they split. I feed them every couple of days small amounts (1/3 to 1/2 piece of krill). They SEEM very healthy. So.. i dunno if this is good or bad. This is my first anemone(s) Smile That's why it isnt in my main tanks! Wink

keep an eye on it and make sure salinity isnt changing too much and you should be fine.just watch.it could be in a very favorable condition and is reproducing from that.
