| Hi everyone! And hooray for a local forum of this variety! Currently just have a 55 gallon african cichlid tank that I'm working on restocking after a catastrophe (or series thereof) wiped out 95% of its inhabitants several months ago. Was previously a mbuna tank, though I became more interested in peacocks later on, so now that I'm essentially starting anew, this will likely be an all-male hap/peacock tank. This is my only tank at the moment---I moved recently, so I just kept a 10gal for a hospital tank and sold the rest so there'd be less to move. I may get another smallish tank and set it up for a pair of tanganyikan shell dwellers, but that is awhile off yet. Prior to the cichlid adventures---just your run of the mill community tanks, always had at least one small aquarium since I was a small kid. Also grew up next to a river, so usually kept a variety of frogs in terrariums, toads, snakes, crayfish, etc., as well as store-bought lizards, salamanders, small rodents, ferrets...you know---the standard tomboy schtick. Hopefully there are some fellow cichlid-a-holics out there! | |

| Welcome to the forum! Sounds like we grew up in similar environments as far as collecting/keeping STUFF "always had at least one small aquarium since I was a small kid. Also grew up next to a river, so usually kept a variety of frogs in terrariums, toads, snakes, crayfish, etc., as well as store-bought lizards, salamanders, small rodents, ferrets...you know" | |
