A day after cleaning the tank I saw this Pavona with its tentacles out.I had not seen this before so I took this photo.

sometimes when they are really happy they will extend many more.infact i have seen them just a mess with tenticles coming out of almost every polyp maybe lets say an inch and a half.they can do some damage too.i have wanted to try feeding them but i have heard nothing on the subject.

I had the same species (Pavona Decussata) a few years ago that had taken up an entire corner of a 72 gallon tank the sweeper tentacles that thing put out were over 6 inches long! it stung just about everything in that corner of the tank.

BadxGillen- most experts say Pavona is about as autotrophic as a coral can get so there is not much point to feed them. while I have found this to be true of most species, this species does seem to indulge to a very small extent on offered foods. the trick is very very small meaty foods

good to know.i have a mess of this in my headboard tank and wonder sometimes if it is in fact reaching out for foods.i have a purple variety as well that has a more blunt growth versus a cactus plating growth.both are cool on there own little islands Smile
