What worked for you? Unfortunately I think people want to try things for themselves and believe what they find conclusive instead of doing some research. It is even apparent in the R2R link given here. What are you referring to in the thread, identifying the dinos in a container under lighted conditions as they aggregate? Or some of the PH raising methods?
Another unfortunate thing is that there are a large number of dinoflagellates in the marine hobby and many of them will not succumb to the same treatments another strain might. Cell rupturing of some doesn't occur in high PH it occurs in more acidic waters, a couple varieties optimal growth level is 8.4 PH. Hence my recommendations to attack the problem at multiple angles including nutrient export, high flow, activated carbon, elevated PH and oxygen levels, and removal of decomposing organics via filters and gravel vacuum...A UV sterilizer has been another recommendation.
