| Got me some new Convicts, hopefully some time soon here i will have some babies. Have a pair set up in a 29 gallon which the male is aquascaping to his liking, tearing up plants and moving gravel. So far he is kind of timid for a Convict, not used to a tank where he can be seen i assume. Here are a few pics of them. | |

| that male is big.Do you have one male to one female ratio?I used to let the male go in with twp girls and would take out the one that was less compliant. It looks like your female is already coloring up though so hopefully things just need a little time. | |

Yeah it's one female in the tank, I added the other small female for a while but the one already in the tank got furious. She chased and harassed the newly introduced female away from the male every time she came to investigate him. I took her out after a day and placed her back into my 10gal quarantine tank. The pair seemed to bond really well over the intrusion of the other female and seem a lot closer. Here is the smaller female i had in there for a day

I have never gotten to experience Cichlids parenting before, should be fun to watch. I just wish the pair in my room would lay eggs.

| Congratulations on your breeding project. It always feels good to give back to the hobby with some captive raised fish or plants. Now you will have to make some dividers to keep the sizes separate. | |

| Those parents must be busy.I remember when we had a convict family. The female would rarely eat because she wanted to protect the fry.And I recall the first batch of fry ate the second batch one day.Can you see any difference in coloration among the babies? | |

I see a lot of pink coming in which is nice, the flash washed out all the color in the image here.
