| Here are some horrible quality shots from my 180. It has been up for a little over a year now. It has a heater, fairly large skimmer, and 5 koralia powerheads. I also use carbon once every few months. I like to show what you can grow simply. I also dose 3 part (calcium, alk, mag) and ALOT of it...like 2 cups a day. Lighting, I have been doing a year long experiment now. The 180 has 3 2x2 foot sections. The far left is a 175 watt halide, the middle is 4x24" T5 HO, the right is a 120 watt LED. The T5 sucks, anything under 4 feet cant get enough wattage. I like the LEDs, I would like a little stronger wattage. I have always liked halides. The heat sucks but isnt an issue in my application. I think I will get 2 more LEDs so I have 3 and maybe supplement with some halides if need be. I also have some 400 watt digital ballasts I am going to play with, maybe in the middle. Here are some pics (taken with a droid phone, good for a cell phone, but not the best for corals):

| Yeah! Pretty much, intense is the right word. It is too bad this particular tank was taken down by yours truly. But fear not as a decent portion of the stock went into my tanks. Much of it got picked off before I got to it but many of these things still live on in my house. Some off these guys got fragged up as they were quite large but some of them are larger than ever just soaking up the rays and calc in my system. Thanks for sharing man, both pics and corals. You know where to find em if you want to get ahold of them again one day. | |
