I find the various sponges arond the house interesting.I was thinking about setting up a refugium of some sort to showcase them.I need to do some research about their requirements first. Here is a bright yellow type-

Most of these sponges don't like the light but there are some rather interesting ones that are actualy photosynthetic to some extent. Many of them having a shape dependant of enviroment.I think it would be cool to have a "sponge"tank where the sponges conditions were met.

They look like some type of green ball sponge, those are huge osculum. I believe these come in a blue and yellow yellow and green being the more frequently seen.

This was posted up and it seems like a relavant topic, a bacteria that resides in\on the sponge that eats\converts phosphates in the ocean and reef.

Check it out.

Now if only we could all have cryptic sponge and filter feeder refugiums. I know some people who don't use RO water but still have nice mature systems with nutrients under control also tend to have some nice sponge growth in the rocks.I know many sponges eat silicates as well.
