Shipped coral survival rates

In your experience which corals are the least tolerant of shipping stress? I have observed that millapora,mushrooms and ricordea tend to arrive in less than perfect condition.

I would agree with that last statement as acroporas can be lost do to big temp swings and tend to be more sensitive to foul water and sudden parameter changes.
Many corals will simply slime themselves to death in the bags and I believe that is what the green slimmers do as well as the mushrooms,given enough water the mushrooms seem to ship decent but most companys are not about the added weight to the package.

The slime corals produce seems to be detrimental during shipment.I believe that is another reason why fresh cuts will not ship well.Also I have received at least three corallimorphs that had melted completely in the bag.Several others have been slimy.Even though they were packaged and shipped properly.
Recently,I received a package that included carbon in the bag with the frags.Perhaps this would be of benefit to some varieties?

I would think so, I know when expensive shrimps are shipped to the Animal House they have what appears to be Purigen beads in the bag, a way of absorbing excess organics. Not a bad idea at all as long as it did not become abrasive to the coral itself.

I personally have always had more trouble with acropora than others, even if shipping goes as planned it is not uncommon to have them brown out or even worse "bleach"out.

Just had another mushroom melt when I shipped it to some one, it was only two days. All the other coral arrived perfectly fine but the mushroom was a melted mess. I will be paying a little more attention to the sensitivity of shipped corals from now on. I am wondering if there are preventable means for the shrooms. I know for the delicate SPS acros some people will attach a small piece of styrofoam at the base so the branches to not tumble around the bag. Maybe some carbon and even more water. I am also wondering if it is simply the substrate the mushroom is attached to, maybe during the shipment the rock or plug is on top of the coral and smothers it?
