Brown Slime Disease

ahh brown slime.another coral killer in my tank.this one puts em down fast.this time around i waited to get my camera before treament.most of the time with this one your just crap out of luck on the infected areas so it is only possible to try and save the surrounding tissues.in this case here it is one of my large frogspawns.

here i am dipping the coral in a marine melafix dip in hope to stop the bacterial infection.heavy dosing for long term dips on prized coral is always a little nerve wracking.[img][/img]
and here you can see after the slime has washed of it has left behind a white skeleton in place of a huge head of euphylia.this all happened over night.

thats kinda frightening, makes me happy to only have cyano bacteria in decline, rather have that than brown slime...

well after talking with some fellow reeferes the best solution seems to be removal of all possible infected tissues even if it means removal of the skeleton.i have used melafix before on a turbinaria with succes so we will see were this goes.even though it does make sense as a precaution.i have this guy backed up in one of my tanks and in countless other peoples tanks.this guy has been fragged around the block.
