Skimmer not skimming

Does anyone have any ideas on how I cand get my Remora Skimmer back skimming in my 65 +35 gal tank? It worked fine until I used chemi-clean to get rid of red algae. I turned it off for a month but now when I start it up again, it fills a big soda bottle in a day. I've adjusted the height of the rubber band, etc. Nothing seems to work--and I need that skimming!! Help!

is there a prefilter sponge on the intake.i know it sounds weird but i have the same problem with a skimmer in my room for my headboard tank after i do a real good cleaning.it also has the not so accurate O ring adjustment on the collection cup that even at its highest point overskims so i simply put a prefilter sponge on the intake to slow down the intake just enough to get things under sontrol again.this is just a possibility as it is hard to diagnose a skimmer without a little hands on time.

I guess I don't.where would youput the sponge?

the intake of the skimmer wich would be next to the return...you know the part that sucks water into the skimmer.the sponge should simply reduce the intake flow until you can figure out the underlying problem.

it may be that there's stuff in the water causing the bubbles to go nutso...it may take letting it run wild for a few days (of course, adjusted to minimize the problem) and treating all the 'skimmed' water like a water change
