What kind of lighting did you see? I know you can get some good growth from T 5 high outputs an and they are not too spendy. You Would need a number if you are going with SPS but softies and LPS can do with a few.

Yeah to do a 55 it usually takes 2 LED units or 2 Halides so both of those options can be exspensive. T-5s can be a little costly too depending on the number of bulbs and features. I believe I have a couple of T-5 HO duel bulb units if you are interested in that type of lighting. You probably need 4+ bulbs if you are wanting to do some of the SPS corals,as previously mentioned, so either a 4 bulb unit or two 2 bulb units.

Unfortunately you would need two of those so it would cost you over $300.Also I am not sure if they are full spectrum either, many of them are only blues and whites. I will look at the link here shortly if you have one.

It looks like the LEDs have quite a bit of red spectrum and warmer whites in the diode layout so I am thinking it will make your tank look a little on the purple side and may encourage a little algae growth but it should be easy to switch out the LEDs for other spectrums or it might look alright with 4 reds and 4 warm whites, I do know mine have only 2 reds and it is rather noticeable. It is a really good price though.

The T-5 unit is a steal of a deal as it appears to be a quad unit and is under $100 shipped. Like I said I do have a couple of 4 foot duel T-5 HO fixtures up for grabs but this unit seems to also have moon light LEDs wich is cool.

Yeah you should be able to do many types at the top including montiporas and birds nests. Proper flow, parameters, and bulbs will be a factor in success.
