| i recently had a wicked outbreak of hair algae in my 46G tank. I have 2 emeralds in there, not enough hermits and a scopas tang. I have an urchin too and this stuff is going wild. Any ideas of critters i can get into that tank to eat this stuff up? | Try bumping your magnesium up to around 1500. That had a way of burning it off | |

| a seahare would be a godsend.sally light foot maybe.if you increase the magnesium i recall it being a small increase of a 100ppm untill it hits 1500ppm then it should slowly melt briopsis away. | |

| Garrets at the premium aquarium might have one.I would call first.You probably already know this but there may be a bit of nutrients that are going unchecked in your system that may be feeding your algae.Maybe? | |

| My lawnmower Blenny did an exceptional job of ridding my tank of it until he past away for some unknown reason. I just noticed him gone one day and I'm sure it had nothing to do with the algea.  | |

| i may try a lawnmower... or a seahare. I only feed one cube of food per day and i have 7 fish in there... it isnt overfeeding but it is steady... the hair algae just popped up out of nowhere | |

| i forgot to ask as i presumed you have checked you water perameters.any nitrate/phosphate in combination will lack of flow?skimmer not working up to par?have you been straining your frozen foods or feeding anythign differnt? | |

| I have read that keeping your alkalinity above 8° will make the water conditions less favorable to the hair algae.Does anyone know if this is true? | |

| Higher PH and higher Alk will help keep algae down, generally a higher PH means there is less dissolved CO2 in the water as well.Another thing is utilizing Kalkwasser as it has an added benefit of precipitating phosphate ina ddition to raising the PH, and calcium. | |
